Gut-Brain Interactions in Patients with IBD and the Role of Hypnotherapy in Managing Symptoms

 

The benefits of gut directed hypnotherapy have been shown in studies to reduce the severity and frequency of symptoms in patients with Disorders of Gut Brain Interaction. However, symptom based anxieties and depression are not unique to patients with DGBI but are prevalent in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disorders as well. Rome’s Executive Director, Johannah Ruddy MEd and colleagues Tiffany Taft, PhD and Daniel Keszthelyi MD summarize the dangers of attaching psychological distress only to patients with DGBI and the benefits of these treatments across all digestive diseases in the Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis.
