Dr. Giada De Palma is a research associate with Dr. Premysl Bercik and Stephen M. Collins at the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute, McMaster University, since September 2016. Her research focuses on understanding the interaction between microbiome, diet, gut physiology and behaviour in functional gastrointestinal disorders. She completed her PhD on the Influence of gut microbiota in celiac disease in 2011 under the supervision of Dr. Yolanda Sanz at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Biotechnology and Microbiology. She then moved to McMaster University where she trained as a postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Premysl Bercik and Dr. Stephen M. Collins at the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute. Giada was awarded the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation Postdoctoral fellowship in 2011 and the CIHR-CAG-Aptalis Post-doctoral fellowship in 2014.
